An invitation to all Texas Longhorn owners and breeders....

Hi, Folks!

Randy Witte Peyton, CO
President, MSTLA

The National Western Texas Longhorn Show Committee cordially invites all ITLA and TLBAA members and their cattle to participate in the 2014 National Western Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. The Texas Longhorn show will be held Friday and Saturday, January 24-25, in the National Western's Stockyards Arena.

This show is historic in that it represents a joint effort by regional affiliates of both the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America and the International Texas Longhorn Association-that's the Mountain and Plains Texas Longhorn Association (MPTLA) and the Mountain States Texas Longhorn Association (MSTLA) respectively. Our judge is the well known and respected Lana Hightower, currently a director in TLBAA and an ITLA-certified judge.

We have loose and halter classes as well as youth halter classes. The show will award qualifying points toward the TLBAA World Show and the ITLA National Championship Show. A total of $5,370 in premium money plus trophy buckles will also be awarded to top winners.

Cattle may arrive and off-load on National Western Drive beginning 7 a.m. Wednesday, January 22, and be in place no later than 4 p.m. Thursday, January 23. All animals must have a BVD test and health certificate to be unloaded.
The halter show will begin at 3 p.m. Friday in the covered Stockyards Arena, followed by an enjoyable Tent Party just outside the arena. The party will consist of hors d'oeuvres and bring-your-own beverage, and afford an opportunity for a lot of good folks to get to know one another.

The loose show will begin Saturday at 3 p.m. in the same venue, followed by the annual Mountain and Plains stock show banquet, held at the host hotel, probably beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets to the banquet are $35 per person. The MPTLA invites everyone to this enjoyable dinner, especially members of ITLA and MSTLA.

Cattle may be released beginning Sunday morning, January 26, the last day of Denver's stock show. While your Longhorns are penned in the yards, on display, thousands of stock show visitors will visit the area. You can stick around part of the time and answer questions about your cattle from the spectators who stroll past the pens, and you can also take time to enjoy the rest of the stock show going on.

Our host hotel, Quality Inn Central, 200 W. 48th (I-25 and I-70), is conveniently located only minutes away from the stock show. You can park your trailers in the Quality Inn parking lot or park them in the National Western's lot in downtown Denver. For Quality Inn reservations, phone 303-296-4000 and ask for the Longhorn rate ($80 per night).
